The 3D modelling subject that I undertook in my second year of study was one of the most difficult and rewarding classes I’ve ever taken. I had not previously attempted 3D modelling and so everything was new to me. We created small models using Autodesk over the course of the semester to slowly but effectively develop our skills. By the end of the semester the hard work and effort I put into mastering this unknown medium payed off. For the final project we were required to build a “scene” that was not just an object but also told a story. The “scene” I created involved a ship on a return voyage from a far off kingdom having been ravaged and destroyed by a storm. I think through hard work consistently through the semester I was able to capture the scene I intended to and develop an object that I would’ve thought far beyond my capabilities at the start of the subject.
